About Shree Surat Arya Bhajan Mandal
Established on 26 June 1926 by Chabilbhai, a devoted member of Durban’s Gujarati community, Shree Surat Arya Bhajan Mandal began with weekly bhajans and satsangs held at the B.A. Naidoo Bulk Stores in Grey Street. Joined by fellow devotees, Chabilbhai laid the foundation for an organisation dedicated to spiritual growth, community service, and the preservation of Hindu culture and traditions.
Over the past century, the Mandal has grown into a respected spiritual and cultural institution, bringing generations together through devotional worship, cultural programmes, and community initiatives. It has played a significant role in promoting Hindu values and heritage, including pioneering Durban’s annual Rath Yatra celebrations.
Today, from its home at Saptah Mandir in Reservoir Hills, Shree Surat Arya Bhajan Mandal proudly honours the vision of its founders while continuing to inspire and serve future generations.
